Does my practice need an information and communication strategy? There are various ways to collect and use the information which you need day to day in primary care. The traditional book shelves look very imposing, but can take a lot of dusting and who can ever find what they want? The practice manager has probably arranged all the policies neatly to bring out at opportune moments. Would it be helpful for everyone to be able to look at the policies easily and quickly. An intranet site makes it very easy to access all the relevant policies, but to be most effective it needs to be accessible, available and the right information needs to be the easiest to find.
As A Locum GP Do I need to have a website? No. A website is not the first priority. It is most important to make contacts and arrange work in more personal and traditional ways. A website can act as a reminder for practices where you have worked. It gives them access to your contact details, and you can update them as needed. It can be useful as advertising, but it is more useful as back up.
