Equitable Access Centre

The equitable access centre is due to open soon at Arrowe Park on the site of the out of hours centre. It will be staffed by GPs and run by Dr O'Malley.

The government has come under criticism this week for the way these centres have been introduced. The Health committee was critical of the lack of pilot testing of such a novel idea.

CV

It is vitally important when applying for a job that your cv is up to date accurate and legible. The job description and advert need to be used to structure your approach.

After that all you can do is hope that you are what the employer is looking for. At present there are lots of applicants for every job, but the employers are suffering a tightening financial situation.

For anyone looking for work at present Good Luck.

Qualifications

General Practice has a new qualification. The nMRCGP is the name for the test replacing summative assessment for access to the specialist register.

This may cause confusion when comparing qualifications of GPs. Those who did the MRCGP in addition to summative assessment will no longer appear to have an advantage over newly qualified GPs.

Of course experience is still important, but can be a positive or a negative in the all round assessment.

Those without either flavour of Royal College approval, are separated into those who are in practices, and probably don't need to worry, and those who have no fixed attachments, who may find it harder to find work.

The College has developed the iMAP, as a new form of membership by assessment for this group, though this is being developed further and will be changing after december 2009.
